The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The Lord is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.
All you have made will praise you, O Lord;
your saints will extol you.
They will tell of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,
so that all men may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is faithful to all his promises
and loving toward all he has made.
The Lord upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food at the proper time.
You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.
Let every creature praise his holy name
for ever and ever.
Ps.145:8-21
I have a lot of thoughts about these words. They are so descriptive of God's character. And when I think about how His character affects my life, these words overwhelm and excite me. When I met Tyrel, it was the first time a man had truly made me feel safe- in his presence, to be myself with no fear of him leaving or becoming disinterested. This reflects God's character. This passage describes the faithfulness, loyalty and desire He has for ME! There is security and safety in His love. Security through provision, through unfailing, unconditional love. Safety for my heart and emotional well being, and for my life for eternity. Security. Safety. These are no small things...especially to women!

When I read these verses I also think about the absolutes and the mystery in knowing Christ. A lot of times when I think about God and what I believe about God I think so much of it is somewhat "elusive" and cannot be concrete. But when I stop focusing on the "do's and don'ts" of the Christian life, I realize exactly how absolute and concrete God really is. And as absolute as He is in character, desires, motives, holiness, etc...there is a mystery about God that will never be fully realized by humanity. Why? You may be asking. This is my hypothesis: I believe one reason is that we love mystery...we love drama (whether we admit it or not)...I believe this is part of what God refers to when "he set eternity in the hearts of men" (Ecc. 3:11). We were created for one purpose: love. To be loved by God, to love God, to love His people. And part of what keeps us "intrigued" by movies, books, relationships, jobs, etc. is MYSTERY. What will happen next? Who will win, who will lose? Where is this going? How will it end? Movies, books, and relationships all reflect the Ultimate Design: God in relationship with humanity. These reflections are our attempt to "play out" what we desire...what was "set in the hearts of all men".
I love Scripture. I love learning about God's character. And I love knowing that no matter how feeble my efforts are, He rewards those who fear Him (respect, love, and obey Him). I am honored to be a follower of Christ. He is not a part of my life here on earth...He is my life: the very reason for my existence.

On Another Note (I have 2 very real sides of my personality: genuine and then, the silly side):
The following are daily adventures I've realized that one experiences as a mom: being covered in saliva, drool, and spit up. Having your hair pulled out several times throughout the day. Becoming used to constant noise be it chatter, whining, screaming, squealing, crying... and the constant motion of kicks, hits, tugging, pinching, "kisses" (that's a nice way of describing drooly mouth plants on your face, arm, etc...). Not flinching when you are pooped on. Quickly learning the refined art of performing all daily duties with one hand (and a foot for assistance every now and then). And of course, being distracted without fail every time you attempt to clean, tidy, cook, shower, read, make a phone call...BLOG! You get the idea. And just today(around 3am MaryBella started something new. I call it "hollering". It's not a cry, whine or coo. It's most definitely her way of saying, "Hey! Mom! Heeey! I said Heeeeey!" And then in the more normal hours of the day today (8am and later), she began a for real whine...this is not exciting to Tyrel and I. But I think she may be starting to teethe. We'll see. When you think of it, pray for our sanity during this stage...especially mine.
Seriously, at any given time when you see me around town chances are there is an underlying amount of drool on my exposed surfaces, spit up on my clothing (hopefully, if I'm lucky-or if YOU'RE lucky-there's no poo residue), and who knows what else! Everyday is unique and therein a treat to experience the aura, aroma and adventures that comes when MaryBeth and MaryBella are presented in public.
Thank you for your time and attention to the details of my heart and my daily life...I hope you enjoyed. More next week...
